Part of the Heart Triad

‘Izumi River’ — Various colored paper strips on black paper by Paperception Studio

Of the nine personality types on the Enneagram, three are part of the Heart Triad. The other personality types are part of either the Head Triad or the Gut Triad.

Twos, Threes and Fours all struggle with love and the feeling that they will not be loved for who they are. Fours embrace sadness and have a need to be unique. They are also creative and can produce original art. Like my close friend at Paperception Studio who created Izumi River pictured above.

My teenage daughter is an individualist and she often feels misunderstood. She has intense emotions and we try to listen. She’s an introvert and enjoyed online school but she also missed her friends. She was happy to return to school and athletics.

My daughter takes offense at those who copy her. It’s gotten to the point where she will “forget” where she got something from because she doesn’t want others wearing the same outfit. And she has had issues with friends that copy her instagram posts. She knows that some people would be flattered by being a trend setter but she doesn’t want to be popular. She wants to be unique.

Fours are also romantics but they can put up walls to protect themselves. Although they want to be special, they do not want to be alone. They are honest with themselves and are comfortable…
