Vertigo with COVID
I am so sick of being sick
A few weeks ago, I experienced vertigo for the first time in my life. At first it felt like motion sickness but after a few days it was more than a little rocking. I get dizzy riding on elevators and airplanes but this was spinning like I was on a ride at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. The worst of it was when I was lying down.
The vertigo lasted for a week. My doctor suspected that it was temporary and would subside along with the congestion that I had. I took allergy medication to help with the congestion and motion sickness medication. It was hardest in the morning. I had to get up slowly and take quick showers. It was such a relief when the vertigo went away. But then the fever kicked.
I felt sorry for myself over Memorial Day Weekend and my birthday as I cancelled plans. I know that I shouldn’t expect to get over sickness in a few days but it has been weeks now. I promised myself that when I felt better, I’d party like it was 1999.
A little over a week ago, I tested positive. It wasn’t a surprise as my teenaged daughter had tested positive the day before. My other two children had also been sick but had always tested negative. I had been sick but didn’t think that it was COVID until that positive test. I…
