It’s a Medium Milestone for Me
I have been writing my whole life. But this is my first personal publishing space. And it feels so good to have over a hundred followers. Thank you readers! Your generous feedback and applause keep me motivated. Especially in this time of covid.
I thought that the lockdown would bring me opportunities to write. But I experienced writers’ block for the first time in my life. Too many unfinished projects. Too much existential contemplation. I need to Just Write. For my mental health. For the $.64 I made on Medium last month.
I started out on Medium writing about budget family travel which didn’t seem to resonate with people. Most people like to splurge when they travel, not count pennies. Then I started posting family stories after cousins and friends asked me for copies of my written material. I recently learned that my mom’s father was a “consular agent” of Japan in the 1940s. I need to do a lot more research on it but I’ve already requested the FBI file on my grandfather. He would have been proud to have a granddaughter working as a government attorney.
Last month, I posted Halloweeny true ghost stories. And lately I’ve been writing personal stories. I feel exposed but others have inspired me to share. I’ve read some moving articles on Medium. This is an amazing platform. Yesterday I reached 100 followers. Today I have over a hundred. Thank you for staying with me and for your support.
