Fours Years In So Far

Because I haven’t been able to find a good menopause timeline, I’m going to try to present my own. I know that there are general stages before reaching menopause. I haven’t gone 6 months without a period yet so I believe that I still have another year or two before I get there. I predict that my timeline will be about 6 years.

We’re all about the same age but have very different timelines

Starting at age 46, my periods were like clockwork, every 28 or 29 days. But an ovarian cyst landed me in the emergency room after hours of nausea, vomiting and painful cramping. I believe the cyst was caused by hormonal imbalances of too much estrogen.

At age 47, I suddenly had 4 periods in less than two months after getting a Johnson & Johnson vaccine shot. My doctor said that there were no studies on the effects of the vaccine and proposed that my periods were just from hormonal imbalances. My periods went back to every 28 days for a time and then became frequent after two more vaccine shots.

At age 49, I had excessive bleeding and suspected that I had fibroids as my mother and aunt had them in their 40s after having three children. But nothing came up after a multitude of tests and I was prescribed birth control which stopped the every other week periods but brought on a multitude of other problems and I stopped taking the birth control after three months.
