Japanese Latin cousins!

It was only recently that I learned that I have cousins in Argentina, Brazil, and Peru.

In Peru, the family goes by Yzumikawa. The early emigrants were named Kanichi Izumikawa and Kanyu.

My mom also has cousins in Brazil. But it has been much easier for me to research my Okinawan side because of an Okinawan Emigrant database at https://lewchew.warubozo.com/ .

Kame Izumigawa in Argentina

There is an Izumigawa family that was born in Nishihara, Okinawa, and eventually settled in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Kame Izumigawa and Ushi had three sons, Kamechiyo, Nio, and Machu.

Kamechiyo had seven children. Kamechiyo also had a cousin named Niyo that married a sister of his wife and lived in Brazil. Niyo and Kamada’s daughter Sumie Izumigawa married Kojiro Yonamine and had three daughters in San Pablo, Brazil.
