DeKalb Market Hall in NYC
Great underrated local food court in Brooklyn
With only three days in NYC, I really wanted to sample as much great food as I could during our short vacation. I mapped out Junior’s in Brooklyn for some cheesecake but I didn’t want to eat a mediocre burger at the restaurant so I looked for restaurants near Junior’s. Right next door was a huge food court with some famous restaurants. DeKalb Market Hall featured Katz’s Delicatessen, the restaurant from When Harry Met Sally.
I wanted to get a pastrami sandwich at Katz’s Deli but I was delighted to find out that we wouldn’t have to make a special trip or wait in a long line just to get a sandwhich. DeKalb Market Hall has over 40 restaurant stands and everyone in the family could make their own selection. We’d get to sample five different dishes in one convenient location. I asked everyone to choose what they wanted ahead of time so that we wouldn’t spend too much time wandering around but the huge list of restaurants was a little overwhelming.
One daughter wanted sushi and one wanted tacos. With so many restaurants, there was something for everyone. I also wanted to try some pierogis incase we didn’t have time to make it to Vaselka’s…
